Syracuse Police pay respects to fallen officers

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police held a solemn ceremony at Forman Park on Tuesday, honoring the 11 officers who were killed in the line of duty.

The ceremony also serves as a reminder of the dangers police officers face every day on the job.

“To me it's the atmosphere and the perception that kind of frightens me. And that's something we have looming right now in the air across the United States is public perception and the current atmosphere and that’s something we have to work collectively to change,” said Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler.

A similar ceremony was held in Albany to remember officers and State Troopers from across the state who have died in the line of duty.
