Syracuse Police: Suspect charged in South Clinton Street stabbing incident

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A Syracuse man who was among several people injured during a fight on South Clinton Street on Wednesday is facing charges.

33-year-old Gerald McGill has been charged with first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

One of his alleged victims – a 21-year-old man - is in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital, while another – a 26-year-old man - was stabbed in the arm.

The incident shut down South Clinton Street near Dickerson Street for a considerable length of time.

McGill suffered what police described as a “minor stab wound” during the incident.

He has been taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center.

Police are still investigating the incident.
