Syracuse Police: Victim in his 70s 'grazed' by bullet to the head

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police are investigating after 78-year-old man was grazed by a bullet to the head.

Police were called to the 200 block of Furman Street at South Salina Street shortly after noon on Wednesday. 

According to police, the man was driving eastbound on Furman Street when he heard several gunshots and realized that he had been injured. He was able to drive to a parking lot where he called for help.

It does not appear that the victim was the intended target in the shooting. 

Sgt. Rick Helterline with the Syracuse Police Department do not believe the man's injuries are life threatening.

Police do not have suspect information available at this time.
