Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A Syracuse man has been ticketed for speeding following a crash that closed a portion of I-81 Friday evening.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Shaddy Sighn was speeding while driving southbound on I-81 and was weaving in and out of traffic.

Deputies say Sighn lost control of his Infiniti G35 and side-swept a Honda CRV before going off the road and hitting a median.

Sighn was taken to Upstate University Hospital for chest pains. The driver of the Honda was not injured.

Deputies had to close the southbound lanes of the highway between the Mattydale and Thruway exits.

Sighn was issued two tickets: one for imprudent speed and the other for unsafe lane change.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Salina Court on May 21, at 5:00 pm.
