SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - It's been almost a year since the re-opening of the former Hotel Syracuse after major renovation.
The historic hotel had been shut down for years until Syracuse native Ed Riley bought it and restored it to its original grandeur.
After welcoming visitors and hosting weddings for nearly 100 years, the grand hotel is buzzing again.
“I honestly think it's the weddings the memories as we said we were always here to make memories. You know it's just great to see brides and grooms and their families celebrating and a lot of them are legacy weddings so we relive people coming back here,” Riley said when asked about the best thing that’s happened in the first year.
They have 150 weddings booked for the next year for the next 12 months.
“I mean, it's a challenge to take close to 300 associates most had never worked in a hotel like this before much less a lot never worked before and to train them at this level of service so we've gotten through that they've done a great job,” Riley said.
