The bill is coming in the form of an email and appears legitimate, even containing the names of the people it's being sent to.
The company Pacific Gas and Electric Company, or PG&E, appears to be sending the bill.
The Your Stories team contacted PG&E and got The Real Deal.
PG&E says they have heard of the emails - which are a scam and are going to people in and out of their service area.
Company officials say they are currently investigating the matter.
In the meantime, PG&E is advising you to not respond to any requests for payment or information and not to click on any links or open any attachments.
They advise you to report these emails to them at corporate security at pge.com.
You can also call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000 if you have any questions about this email scam or similar ones coming in the form of a phone call.
If there's something you want The Real Deal about, call (315) 446-9900 or email YourStories@LocalSYR.com.
