NewsChannel 9 viewer Nanette from Mexico wants to know The Real Deal about the cards.
The card comes from the National Prescription Savings Network.
It says it can save you up to 75 percent on your medications at pharmacies everywhere.
The card is free and is ready to go. It says you just have to take it to the pharmacy.
NewsChannel 9 found the card appears to be legitimate, but there are some things you should know.
We reached out to the company behind the card - Script Relief - and they tell us it cannot be used in conjunction with your medical insurance.
Wegmans pharmacy tells us only a small amount of their customers - about five percent - don't have some form of insurance for their medications.
Script Relief recommends seeing which provides you more savings, your insurance or their discount card.
You should also know that Script Relief is paid by drug companies every time the card is used, according to the company’s website.
There are reports that cards like this one and similar ones are being mailed with letters that talk about the Affordable Care Act and other changes to the healthcare system.
But these discount cards are not coming from the government, they are from private companies.
