'Tis the season for 'Food for Families'

It’s  time for "Food for Families”— the one-day food drive benefits Food Bank of Central New York is underway at Tops Friendly Markets.

Food for Families is today at Tops Friendly Markets around Central New York.

VIP Structures has built a canned food sculpture to promote the event, on the theme "bulldoze hunger" at Tops in Airport plaza in North Syracuse.

“You're coming into the holiday time of year.  It’s obviously for a good cause.  Everyone enjoys being part of something that's for a good cause.  Helping someone out that might be down at the moment.  It’s enjoyable,” said Vince Raymond, of VIP Structures.

All the food used in the sculpture will be donated to the food drive.

You can help the Food Bank by donating cash, food or by picking up a "little brown bag of hope" at the front of any Tops store.  They’re filled with food items needed most by the food bank, this time of year.

NewsChannel 9's Tim Fox will be broadcasting live throughout the day at the Tops store in Airport Plaza, North Syracuse.
