Tompkins County Sheriff: No essential travel

ITHACA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The Tompkins county Sheriff’s Office is asking people to avoid any non-essential travel as winter storms bury Central New York and the Southern Tier.

Those who must travel for work are asked to travel safely.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking that those people also try to be off the roads around noon, when they expect the snow to be the heaviest.

If you have questions, call the Sheriff’s Office’s non-emergency line, (607) 272-2444.
