Tornado hit Verona on Tuesday, National Weather Service confirms: Photos and Raw Video

Verona (WSYR-TV) – The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado hit the town of Verona in Oneida County on Tuesday night.

A team from the NWS surveyed the area Wednesday.

Initial findings indicated an EF-1 scale tornado touched down near the intersection of Route 31 and Route 365 around 10:03 p.m.

Top wind speeds hit 100 mph, the NWS estimates.

Lower-level damage continued along a 9 mile path to Westmoreland, the NWS found.

The National Weather Service says the initial findings are subject to change.
