Track officials ‘working on financing,' say track construction should resume next month

BREWERTON, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Officials at the much anticipated Central New York Raceway Park say they are “working on financing” they hope will allow them to resume construction next month.

In 2016, the project came to a standstill when funding promised by New York State fell through.

The stoppage prompted DIRT to move its signature event – which once called the New York State Fair Grand Stand home – to move to Oswego Speedway.

The event will return to Oswego Speedway this year, but officials hope this will be the last time.

According to Raceway Park President Glenn Donnelly, they are STILL waiting for approximately a few million from the state but no longer want that to slow the project down.

DIRT racing fans have been waiting for a new destination since January 2016 when the Grand Stand at the Fair was demolished.
