Traffic alert: I-690 W. in Syracuse to close for one or more nights this week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - I-690 Westbound between Thompson Road and West Street in Syracuse will be closed for one or more nights this week between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The Department of Transportation says detours will be posted.

In addition, I-690 both east and westbound will be reduced to one lane Sunday, November 12, while crews conduct road striping.

Construction on I-690 at Teall Avenue and Beech Street will continue through the winter.

During the night-time paving, traffic detours will include:
·         Traffic heading west on I-690 from I-481 and Bridge Street will be detoured onto southbound Thompson Road to westbound Erie Boulevard.
·         Traffic entering downtown Syracuse, will be directed to turn right onto Oswego Boulevard, left onto James Street, left onto North Clinton Street then right back onto Erie Boulevard.  Motorists can then take the on-ramp to westbound I-690 from Erie Boulevard.
·         Traffic taking on-ramps to westbound I-690 from Thompson Road and Midler Avenue will be directed to the detour route along Erie Boulevard.
·         The ramp from northbound I-81 to westbound I-690 will remain open.
