ITHACA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Ithaca Police are warning residents that a “superload” will be traveling through the city on Friday.
Police compared the superload to a wind turbine that passed through several Central New York communities in February.
The commercial truck and its trailer will be over 380 feet long.
Police say traffic patterns in the city will be altered in order to move the truck through safely.
The load is scheduled to arrive in Ithaca on State Route 34 at 9:30 a.m.
The load will then take the following route:
- South on East Shore Drive
- South on New York State Route 13
- South on North/South Meadow Street (which will be closed from the intersection of Meadow and Hancock to Meadow and Clinton for the duration)
- South on Elmira Road
Police are asking people to follow officers’ directions if they’re driving through the city at the same time.
Ithaca Police say they will provide updates or changes on their Facebook page, which you can find by clicking here.
