Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Question: Barbara from Baldwinsville wants to know why it’s taken so long to finish the Onondaga Lake Trail on the west shore.

Answer: Onondaga County officials say most of the work on the trail should have been completed last year – except for a paved top coat.

Since that was late in the fall season, crews were concerned that the asphalt may not bind as well with the cooler weather.

They decided to wait until spring’s milder temperatures arrived.

They now say the new trail extension will be unveiled to the public on Sunday, May 18 near the Onondaga Lake Visitor Center.
