Burglary Bump on Syracuse's East Side

Syracuse Police report increase in residential burglaries on Syracuse's East Side
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) Syracuse Police are asking neighbors to take precautions after 28 reported burglaries to residential buildings on the East Side since June 01,2014.

Twelve of the residences were occupied at the time of the incident.

Syracuse Police Sgt. Tom Connellan said occupied burglaries are especially alarming to police, "Most of them, the person did not know someone had broken in, they discovered the burglary after. But there were some where the person heard someone in there or they found the person in the house and to us, that's the most scary burglary because you're going to have a confrontation and something bad could happen."

Commonalities:
Type:                                Residential Buildings
Timeframe/Days of Week:     Overnight Hours/Friday-Monday
EntryMO:                           Unlocked Doors/Windows
Property Taken:                  Cash, Electronics, Clothing, Tools

Syracuse Police are asking neighbors to be vigilant, "If they notice suspicious persons in or around the area, please call us.

We're going to have some extra patrols in that area," said Connellan.

If you have any information about the burglaries, give Syracuse Police detectives a call at 442-5222.
