Man wanted in connection with Shop City bank robbery arrested

Syracuse Police say a man wanted in connection with the robbery of a bank near the Shop City Plaza has been arrested.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police say a man wanted in connection with the robbery of a bank near the Shop City Plaza has been arrested.

Police say 50-year-old Michael Torterello of Syracuse robbed the First Niagara Bank on Grant Boulevard on April 25.

Torterello was identified through tips from the public after surveillance photos were released to the local media, according to police.

He has been charged with Robbery in the 3rd Degree and is being held in the Justice Center.

Police say Torterello has a very lengthy arrest record, including three prior robbery charges and two prior burglary charges.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police are investigating a bank robbery near the Shop City plaza on Friday morning.

The First Niagara Bank on Grant Boulevard was robbed around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 25.

The suspect is a white male, according to police.

During the robbery, the suspect was caught on surveillance video wearing a knit cap, a mask, a gray jacket, and sun glasses.

The suspect didn’t use a weapon during the incident.

No one was injured.
