#1 Syracuse rallies past North Carolina in overtime 12-11

Orange clinches ACC regular season title

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WSYR-TV) - The top-ranked Syracuse University men's lacrosse team won its seventh one-goal game of the season, rallying past the defending national champions from North Carolina 12-11 in overtime.

The Orange scored four straight goals in the fourth quarter to force OT, where senior midfielder Sergio Salcido won it with a man-up goal.

With the victory, SU (10-1, 4-0 in ACC) clinches the ACC regular season title, and the top seed in the conference tournament.

Salcido finished the game with 3 goals, while redshirt freshman attackman Stephen Rehfuss added 2 goals and 2 assists.

Redshirt senior defensive midfielder Paolo Ciferri (Ithaca HS) also scored twice, including the game-tying goal with just 1:19 left in regulation.

The Tar Heels were led by senior attackman Luke Goldstock and his 3 goals and 3 assists.

Syracuse returns to the Carrier Dome Saturday, April 22nd for a Senior Day showdown with #20 Binghamton. Face-off is scheduled for 2pm.
