Syracuse knocks off Wake Forest for first ACC Tournament win

NEW YORK CITY (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse raced out to a 20-4 lead and never looked back, knocking off Wake Forest 73-64 in the first round of the ACC Tournament.

It's SU's first win in the conference tournament since joining the league.

Tyus Battle had the hot hand early, scoring 12 points in the first 10 minutes.  Battle finished the game with 18 points.

All five Syracuse starters scored in double figures, led by freshman Marek Dolezaj's career-high 20 points.

Paschal Chukwu added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the win for the Orange.

SU shot nearly 55 percent from the field, limiting Wake Forest to just 35 percent.

Syracuse improves to 20-12 overall.

SU advances to face the six seed in the tournament North Carolina, Wednesday night in the second round at 9 p.m.  The game will be televised on ESPN2.
