Great Blue Heron births captured on Cornell webcam

Great Blue Herons emerged from their eggs over the weekend on Cornell University’s campus, and it was all captured on the school’s webcam.
Ithaca (WSYR-TV) – Great Blue Herons emerged from their eggs over the weekend on Cornell University’s campus, and it was all captured on the school’s webcam.

Four baby hatchlings emerged by April 30, the fifth is still due.

Cameras set up at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Sapsucker Woods in Ithaca are enabling viewers throughout the world to watch rare moments in the herons’ lives, such as courting and mating, and defending their nest against Great Horned Owls.

According to the school, more than half a million people in 166 countries have watched the herons in their daily lives.
