Donovan McNabb tweeted Saturday that Syracuse University will retire his #5 jersey in the 2013-2014 football season.
SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Donovan McNabb tweeted Saturday that Syracuse University will retire his #5 jersey in the 2013-2014 football season.

McNabb, who sits on the SU Board of Trustees, says his number will be retired on November 2nd.

That is the same day the Orange host Wake Forest. The university has not confirmed McNabb's announcement.

McNabb starred at quarterback for Syracuse from 1995 to 1998.

He led the Orange to four straight winning seasons and still holds the school record for career touchdown passes with 77.

McNabb was also a walk-on for the basketball team. He was part SU's 1996 Final Four team.

He was selected 2nd overall in the 1999 NFL Draft and played 13 years in the league with the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings.
