Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- As the Orange prepare to face Michigan in the Final Four, fans in Central New York are trying to make their way to the Peach State. Some members of "Otto’s Army," a group of student fans, were hoping to get more help from Syracuse University.

"We thought it was going through, planning was being done, bus companies were being solicited, getting quotes from them. So we were a little disappointed once we heard late last night that the Student Association did not approve a transportation option,” said Otto’s Army Treasurer Steve Pincus.

They are the loudest fans in the stands, willing to camp out in the cold for hours to secure seats at the dome. Now, the devoted students who can't afford to fly, are scrambling to find an affordable route to Atlanta. They’re even trying to connect people for carpooling. However, the President of Otto's Army admits that is not the preferred solution.

"It seems a little more dangerous to me having students drives themselves, figuring out lodging themselves, rather than having it in the hands of the university,” said Otto’s Army President Ben Glidden. “That is what we're asking people right now -- people with open spots, to open up their hearts and cars and let people come with them."

A strategy session late Tuesday was a last-ditch effort to rally the troops, in hopes that students who want to make the trip can find safe passage with friends.

"There are a lot of seniors who are trying to get down there for their last hurrah as students. It is just being able to support the Orange. We do it throughout the year. As Otto's Army it is our mission to build that level of support,” said Otto’s Army PR Officer Sean Fernandez.
