SU ranked No. 9 in AP preseason poll

The Syracuse University men’s basketball team is ranked No. 9 in the Associated Press’ preseason college basketball poll released on Friday afternoon.
Syracuse (WSYR/AP) – The Syracuse University men’s basketball team is ranked No. 9 in the Associated Press’ preseason college basketball poll released on Friday afternoon.

The Orange finished the 2011-2012 campaign at 34-3. In the postseason, SU advanced to the East Regional final, in which they lost to Ohio State.

SU won the conference’s regular season title last year, going 17-1 in Big East play.

Indiana is ranked No. 1 according to the poll, while Louisville is ranked No. 2. The Cardinals were also tabbed by the Big East’s coaches as the top team in the conference.

Rounding out the top five were Kentucky, Ohio State, and Michigan.

Along with Louisville and Syracuse, the Big East teams ranked in the top 25 were Notre Dame (No. 22) and Cincinnati (No. 24).
