When most people think of golf, typically individual achievements come to mind.
But, for the Auburn High School girls’ golf team, it's their team work that earned them back-to-back sectional titles.
The Maroons, who are advancing four golfers to the State Championship next week, are led by senior Larissa Carter who finished in third place finish last year.
"The course is a little hilly, there's a lot of elevated greens and stuff like that so you definitely have to make sure you club up on certain things, club down on certain things, check your wind and you have to play smart," Larissa said. "Short game is the name of the game as they would say, so just practicing more on that because that's what keeps your score low."
"Larissa brings an incredible amount of experience to the game and to the team and she's been inspirational to the team to get them to play better," said Auburn golf coach Donna Goddard.
In the fall, Larissa will take her golf game to Radford University in Virginia.
“I just can't wait to get out there and play D-I sports,” Larissa said. “That's been my goal, to get a full scholarship the entire time and I got that, so now I just can't wait to get out there and meet all these new people."
