Baseball legend Tony Gwynn dies at 54

San Diego (WSYR-TV) – Baseball Hall of Fame outfielder Tony Gwynn has died at the age of 54.

Gwynn, who led the San Diego Padres to National League Championships in 1984 and 1998, died on Monday morning at a hospital in California after a long battle with cancer.

He was selected to 15 All-Star teams and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.

Following his playing days, Gwynn coached at his alma mater, San Diego State.
