Canada defeats USA 3-2 in OT to claim Gold Medal in women's hockey

Sochi (WSYR-TV/ESPN) - Canada defeated Team USA 3-2 in overtime to claim gold in women’s hockey on Thursday.

USA led 2-0 until Brianne Jenner and Poulin scored in the final 3:26 of regulation time.

Marie-Philip Poulin then scored the game-winning goal on a power play at 8:10 of overtime.

USA received goals from Meghan Duggan and Alex Carpenter.

This is Canada’s fourth straight gold medal in women’s hockey.

Team USA’s lost gold medal in women’s hockey was in 1998. Since then, the team has lost to Canada three times in the finals.
