Ithaca's Dustin Brown scores in USA Olympic hockey victory over the Czech Republic

Sochi, Russia (WSYR-TV) – Ithaca native Dustin Brown tallied a goal in Team USA’s 5-2 win over the Czech Republic in the first elimination round in the Sochi Olympics on Wednesday.

Brown’s goal at the 14:38 mark in the first period gave USA a 2-1 lead that the Czechs never matched again.

Phil Kessel, David Backes, James van Riemsdyk, and Zach Parise also scored in the victory.

USA will play Canada in the semifinal round on Friday.

Canada beat Latvia 2-1 on Wednesday.
