Oneida County's Erin Hamlin wins bronze, makes Olympic history as first American to medal in singles luge

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Remsen native Erin Hamlin has made Olympic history as the first American to earn a medal in the singles luge event.

Hamlin earned a Bronze Medal in Sochi on Tuesday.

Two German competitors – Natalie Geisen and Tatjana Hufner – took the Gold and Silver.

Hamlin recorded a time of 3:21.145 total.

Geisen won the Gold with a total time of 3:19.768, while Hufner recorded a time of 3:20.907.
