Towson, MD (WSYR-TV) - On Sunday, the Syracuse University women's lacrosse team faced #1 ranked Maryland in the NCAA championship game.

It was the Orange's second time playing in the title game.

Maryland jumped out to a 5-0 lead early on and were able to hold on for a 15-12 victory.

If SU had won, not only would it had been the first national championship for the program, but the first title for any women's sport at Syracuse.

SU lost only three times all season.  All three losses were to Maryland.

The Orange lost 12-10 at the Carrier Dome on March 10.  The Terps also defeated SU in the ACC title game by a score 13-7.
