East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - The New York Giants activated star defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul from the physically unable to perform list Monday.
The 24-year-old Pierre-Paul has been out of action all offseason after back surgery.
"It's a big step. I've been working hard for the past couple of months since I've gotten my surgery," Pierre-Paul said. "I think I'm going to do good out there. The individual drills that I did were harder than the drills in practice so the trainers were helping me therefore I feel more comfortable with myself going out and practicing with the team."
The South Florida product had a breakout season in 2011 with 16 1/2 sacks and 86 tackles in 16 games, but managed only 6 1/2 sacks with 66 tackles in 2012. He has 27 1/2 sacks in 48 games over three NFL seasons.
