Two Central New Yorkers took the mound at Citi Field in New York City Tuesday night in the MLB All-Star game.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Two Central New Yorkers took the mound at Citi Field in New York City Tuesday night in the MLB All-Star game.

Pirates closer Jason Grilli – who grew up in Baldwinsville – and Diamondbacks lefty Patrick Corbin – who graduated from Cicero-North Syracuse – represented the National League in the Midsummer Classic.

The American League defeated the National League 3-0, earning home-field advantage during the World Series.

Corbin was credited with the loss after he pitched the fourth inning, giving up two hits and one earned-run on a sacrifice fly.

The Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher came into the break with an 11-1 record.

Grilli pitched around a leadoff triple to hold the American League scoreless in the ninth inning.

The Pittsburgh Pirates closer is currently leading the National League in saves with 29.

American League pitchers held the National League to just 3 hits over the game and Chicago White Soxs pitcher Chris Sale was credited with the win.
