Syracuse University no longer a member of the Big East Conference

Syracuse was a founding member of the Big East and spent more than three decades in the league.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -  As the clock struck midnight Monday morning, Syracuse University officially became a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

It may be a bittersweet moment for SU and its fans.

Syracuse was a founding member of the Big East Conference and spent more than three decades in the league.

Orange legends such as Pearl Washington, Donovan McNabb and Carmelo Anthony all cut their teeth in the Big East.

At the same time, with the changing nature of college athletics, the ACC provides stability.

The Orange will be joined in the ACC by Pittsburgh and Notre Dame.  Louisville will become a member next year.
