Gouverneur (WSYR-TV) – Six onlookers were injured Thursday night when a motorcycle stunt call the “Wall of Death” went awry at a fair in New York’s North Country.

The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office says the motorcyclist, 37-year-old Sampie Noakes, climbed too high on the wall and the footboard of the motorcycle caught the cable on top of the wall.

Citing Sheriff’s Deputies, WWNY-TV in Watertown reports that Noakes’ motorcycle flew into the crowd, injuring six people who were taken to Gouverneur Hospital.

They say Noakes was thrown out of the arena to the ground.

Officials do not believe the spectators’ injuries are life threatening.
