Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Multiple Michaels stores in Central New York are among those impacted by a massive security breach the company has identified.

The breach happened between May 8, 2013 and Jan. 27, 2014. It affected approximately 3 million customers, CNNMoney.com reports.

Locally, the stores affected include two Syracuse-area locations on West Genesee Street and Erie Boulevard, the Northern Lights Plaza in the Mattydale area; New Hartford; Ithaca; and Watertown.

A list of locations that includes the dates upon which customers information may have been compromised is available on Michaels website.

The company says it has no reason to believe that customers’ names or PINs were compromised.

They believe the thieves were able to access debit and credit card numbers, along with expiration dates.

CNNMoney.com reports that a “limited number” of cards were used illegally.

The company is offering customers free credit monitoring for 12 months. Click here for information on the credit monitoring offer.

More details on the breach are available on Michaels’ website.
