Cops: Criminal organization behind $544K worth of thefts from Onondaga County burglaries

Four people who were allegedly part of a criminal organization linked to burglaries throughout Onondaga County and beyond are under arrest on Monday.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Four people who were allegedly part of a criminal organization linked to burglaries throughout Onondaga County and beyond are under arrest on Monday.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office says the thieves stole more than $544,000 in cash and jewelry from people in Manlius, Lysander, Clay, and Liverpool.

They are also suspects in burglaries in Ohio, Detroit, Illinois, Tennessee, and New York City.

Sheriff’s Investigators worked with Manlius Police in the investigation.

They arrested the following:

Valentin Lakatosz, 41 - Norridge, Illinois

Charges:
  • Second-degree burglary (3 counts), felony
  • Second-degree grand larceny, felony
  • Third-degree grand larceny (2 counts), felony
  • Fourth-degree criminal mischief, misdemeanor
He was arraigned in Town of Lysander Court and taken to the Justice Center in lieu of $1.5 million cash bail or $3 million bond.

Chanel Lakatosz, 26 - Norridge, Illinois

Charges:
  • Second-degree burglary (3 counts), felony
  • Second-degree grand larceny, felony
  • Third-degree grand larceny (2 counts), felony
  • Fourth-degree criminal mischief, misdemeanor
He was arraigned in Town of Lysander Court and taken to the Justice Center in lieu of $1.5 million cash bail or $3 million bond.

Jan Kopacz, 35 – Norridge, Illinois

Charges:
  • Second-degree burglary (3 counts), felony
  • Second-degree grand larceny, felony
  • Third-degree grand larceny (2 counts), felony
  • Fourth-degree criminal mischief, misdemeanor
He was arraigned in Town of Lysander Court and taken to the Justice Center in lieu of $1.5 million cash bail or $3 million bond.

David Djurdevic, 34 – Chicago, Illinois

Charges:

  • Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony
  • Second-degree forgery, felony
  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor
  • False impersonation, misdemeanor

He was arraigned in Town of Lysander Court and taken to the Justice Center in lieu of $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond.
