Jim Boeheim & Goose Gossage help raise money for Challenger Field of Dreams

The field serves players with developmental, physical and emotional special needs in the Challenger Division of the NY District 8 Little League.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Thousands of dollars were raised Saturday night at the the first-ever "Baseball Bash" at the Oncenter in Syracuse

The banquet was held to raise money for the Challenger Field of Dreams.

The sports complex is at the Willis Carrier Recreation Center in DeWitt.

The field serves players with developmental, physical and emotional special needs in the Challenger Division of the NY District 8 Little League.

Saturday's event featured an auction, dinner, and dancing.

Special guests at the bash included former New York Yankee Goose Gossage and SU head basketball coach Jim Boeheim.

Gossage has worked on a similar project in Colorado Springs.

"We were going to build one field," said Gossage. "That project turned into nine baseball fields and eight soccer fields."

Jim Boeheim said, "The thing Julie [Jim Boeheim's wife] and I do is try to give back because the community gives so much to us."
