Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The North Syracuse Central School District announced on Tuesday that is has settled a lawsuit regarding misconstruction at Gillette Road Middle School.

The district says the school's exterior walls were improperly installed several years ago, making them unfit to withstand high winds.

The issue was brought to the district’s attention in August of 2011 by the district’s architectural firm.

A plan called for Gillette Road Middle School students to be relocated or dismissed when wind speeds were expected to reach over 50 mph.

Since then, the school has closed several days because of strong winds.

The district says the settlement will allow them to rebuild the affected exterior walls to withstand high wind conditions.

The fixtures to the school are expected to be finished before the start of the next school year.
