Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Onondaga Community College hosted a National College Fair on Tuesday.

More than 200 colleges were represented at the event in the SRC Arena – some local, while others from beyond Central New York.

Le Moyne College Admissions Director Erin Craig said college costs are prompting more and more students to consider alternatives to their first-choice colleges.

“With the cost of education being what it is, students are electing to not go to their first choice school. That's the first time we've seen such data that they're electing to go to their second or third choice,” she said.

Admissions officers say that students shouldn’t initially be deterred by money concerns as scholarships and funding may be available.
