Oscar De La Hoya to be inducted into Boxing Hall of Fame today

Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota celebrates 25 years as it inducts class of 2014. The Parade of Champions starts at 1 PM, the induction ceremony follows.

Canastota, NY (WSYR-TV) The Boxing Hall of Fame celebrating it's 25th anniversary this weekend as it honors another round of champions.

"The Hall of Fame Weekend is boxing's highlight weekend of the year. In Canastota, boxing fans can mingle with an incredible roster of boxing legends and celebrate the great sport," said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. "The Hall of Fame Weekend is for anyone who loves the sport of boxing and we are very excited about honoring the Class of 2014."

Among the boxers being inducted Sunday is Oscar De La Hoya. The Olympic Gold Medalist and 10-time professional champion says he is humbled to be honored.

Other inductees include two division champion "The Pride of Wales" Joe Calzaghe, three division champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad, promoter Barry Hearn, referee Richard Steele, journalist Graham Houston and photographer Neil Leifer.

Miss America Nina Davuluri is the Grand Marshal of the Parade of Champions. The Boxing Hall of Fame says local Olympian Erin Hamlin will be a special guest.

There is a parade at 1 PM in Canastota's downtown district. It is open to the public. The induction ceremony will follow.
