Police: ‘Fugitive of the Week’ empties cash register and never returns to work

Syracuse Police say a former Family Dollar employee is wanted after he cleared out the cash register he was working and never returned.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police say a former Family Dollar employee is wanted after he cleared out the cash register he was working and never returned.

Police say 23-year-old Shakeem Robbins was caught on tape stealing $2,596 from the cash register of the Family Dollar on West Onondaga Street on Syracuse’s West Side the night of Nov. 12.

“He was an employee for several months, no issues prior to that time. So to have him disappear and leave the store was suspicious,” said Sergeant John Savage with the Syracuse Police Warrant Squad. “It appears out of character for him.”

So far though, police say they have not been able to locate Robbins.

“We have not had any sightings of him. Detectives have been looking for him and we do know he has a female acquaintance in the area,” Sgt. Savage said.

Robbins is wanted for Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, a Class E felony. Police say he is from New York City and recently located to the Syracuse area.

Officials describe Robbins as:
  • African-American male
  • 5 feet-9 inches tall
  • 160 pounds
  • Black hair
  • Brown eyes
If you have information that can lead detectives to Robbins, you are urged to take action and call the Syracuse Police Warrant Squad at (315) 442-5230. All calls will remain confidential.
