Police: Ilion woman arrested for DWI Leandra’s Law found with marijuana and open alcohol containers

New Hartford Police say a Herkimer County woman was arrested for DWI under the Leandra’s Law after she was found with marijuana and open containers of alcohol in the car with a child in the backseat.
New Hartford (WSYR-TV) - New Hartford Police say a Herkimer County woman was arrested for DWI under the Leandra’s Law after she was found with marijuana and open containers of alcohol in the car with a child in the backseat.

Police say 46-year-old Jennifer Young of Ilion was pulled over on Thursday at about 9:09 p.m. after her 2003 Saturn sedan nearly struck a snow bank while traveling east on State Route 5.

Following a search of the car, police say Young was also found to be in possession of marijuana and open alcohol containers in the vehicle.

Young has been charged with:
  • Felony DWI Leandra’s Law
  • Misdemeanor DWI
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Unlawful Possession of Marijuana
  • Failing to Maintain Lane
  • Open Container
Young was taken to Oneida County Jail on $5,000 cash bail and is scheduled to return to Town of New Hartford Court next week.
