Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Thousands lined the streets of Downtown Syracuse Saturday for the 32nd Annual St. Patrick's parade. NewsChannel 9 is honored to have been chosen as one of the grand marshals of the big event. Our very own Dan Cummings led the way, joined by his wife and kids.

Dan has been involved since our very first broadcast and says it was an honor to represent the station in the parade. NewsChannel 9 and Project Children were both co-grand marshals.

For many folks, the St. Patrick's parade is about spending time with friends and family, for others it's a yearly tradition. And for a few people, it holds extra special meaning.

"Actually we were married on St. Patrick's Day, so we like to say they throw a parade for us every single year for our anniversary," said Marcia Ehlers.

Marcia and Bob Ehlers have been coming to the parade for more than 20 years, but Saturday they brought their one-year old grand-daughter so she could experience it too.

Meanwhile, for Connor Kenney says he celebrates the luck of the Irish and he also celebrates himself as he turned 7-years-old Saturday.

Whether it's your birthday, wedding anniversary or you're just celebrating the St. Patrick's holiday, Central New Yorkers say there's nothing like the Syracuse parade.

If you missed the parade broadcast, or want to watch it again, NewsChannel 9 will re-air it Saturday night at 8 p.m. Click here for a list of the parade band and float award winners.
