Voters to decide future of East Syracuse Police Department

People living in the village of East Syracuse will have the chance to vote on the future of their police department on Wednesday.
East Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - People living in the village of East Syracuse will have the chance to vote on the future of their police department on Wednesday.

A plan to eliminate the village police has been in the works for months and now village residents will have the final say.

If approved, full time officers from the village will move to the town of DeWitt Police Department.

In return, one patrol car will always be stationed in the village.

It's a move that will save families from seeing their taxes go up.

The vote is taking place from noon to 9 p.m. at the Village Hall.
