Developer launches Seneca County casino, resort proposal

A Rochester-based developer has announced plans for a proposed new casino in the town of Tyre in Seneca County.
Seneca County (WSYR-TV) – A Rochester-based developer has announced plans for a proposed new casino in the town of Tyre in Seneca County.

Wilmorite Chairman Thomas Wilmot said the resort – which would be named the Wilmot Casino & Resort – would be a $350 million project.

The project would include a casino, hotel, spa, and dining and entertainment facilities, according to a press release from the developer.

The developer will need to apply for one of first four casino licenses being awarded to Upstate New York following the passage of Proposition 1 in November.

57 percent of voters in New York approved the measure that cleared the path to “Las Vegas style” casinos.

The Seneca County Supervisor has already expressed his enthusiasm for bringing a casino to the area.
