North Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The North Syracuse Central School District will hold a public listening session tonight regarding the controversial Common Core standards established by the New York State public schools administration

Superintendent Annette Speach says confusion persists among people in the North Syracuse schools community regarding Common Core.

Administrators and teachers will be on hand to field questions from people in the community.

“There's confusion because they don’t see the relationship between Common Core, state tests, teacher evaluations. It all kind of gets lumped together in peoples' minds. And I also think the timing of the Common Core roll out and state testing was probably not ideal in terms of it making sense. And that's caused a lot of confusion,” Speach said.

Speach said one specific growing pain for Common Core – state testing – arrived before schools could implement the curriculums.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Roxboro Road Middle School.
