Have a question for the IRS? Expect some delays: Your Stories

With last minute tax filers and others getting their refund back, you may have a question for the IRS. But if you're trying to reach them - expect some significant delays.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - With last minute tax filers and others getting their refund back, you may have a question for the IRS. But if you're trying to reach them - expect some significant delays.

With the April 15 tax filing deadline just six days away, it's estimated that about 40 percent of all callers to the IRS won't be able to reach a real person this year.

The IRS blames ongoing federal budget cuts.

The budget is $850 million slimmer than it was in 2010 and there are 6 million to 8 million additional taxpayers in that same time period.

Another problem, the IRS has lost nearly 10,000 employees since 2010. Much of the loss is due to retirements.
