Salina (WSYR-TV) – Question: The Long Branch Road Bridge that separates the towns of Geddes and Salina is very narrow between the one-way traffic light and the reflector cones. Why is that?

Answer: According to Gene Cilento of the State Department of Transportation, the pathway over the Onondaga Lake Outlet was reduced from approximately 15 feet to 10 feet in October to reduce the loading on the deteriorated outside beams.

The weight restriction – 10 tons – hasn’t changed. There are no plans to close the sidewalks and the department is looking into what it should do in the long term.
