The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and the State Department of Labor partner to promote the importance of agriculture careers to get young people excited about the many possibilities for future jobs in the industry. Be sure to check out the event by the main gate and participate in the Agriculture Career Challenge game.


  • Family Fishing Day

Presented in cooperation with the state Department of Environmental Conservation. Admission is free for anyone presenting a valid New York State hunting or fishing license at the gate. The DEC will operate free fishing clinics in the pond in the New York Experience festival grounds on this day.

The first state fair in America to host an official Pride Day to celebrate the LGBTQ community, the annual event includes a morning flag raising ceremony, performances in the Empire Theater in the afternoon and LGBTQ participation in the daily parade at 6:00 pm.

Come to the Empire Room in the Art & Home Center and be inspired as people from all around the world complete years of hard work and become American citizens, raising their right hands and swearing allegiance to our country.

Come celebrate all that 4-H and FFA does for the youth of New York State.


  • Biker Appreciation Day

This new day features $1 admission for fairgoers who arrive on motorcycles and show a valid motorcycle license at the gate, with free parking for motorcycles in the Fair’s Gray Lot.


  • Family Fishing Day

  • Law Enforcement Day

We honor the men and women of law enforcement in New York State with free admission to any active or retired law enforcement or corrections personnel who presents a badge or picture ID from the department from which they are or were employed. Make sure to attend the Law Enforcement Day ceremonies at 12:00 pm in front of the Horticulture Building and make sure to see all the law enforcement participants in our Special Day Parade at 6:00 pm.


  • Maple Day

In celebration of New York’s growing maple industry, the New York State Fair will hold Maple Day and is sponsored by the New York State Maple Producers Association. This day will feature maple products, such as maple cotton candy, maple donuts, pancakes with maple syrup, maple soft serve ice cream and more that can be sampled at locations across the Fairgrounds. Cooking demonstrations using pure New York maple syrup will be held throughout the day in the Wegmans Demonstration Kitchen and maple vendors will be sampling and selling products at the Taste NY Marketplace in the Horticulture Building.


  • Senior Citizens’ Day

Senior citizens, sixty (60) years of age and older, are offered free admission today. ID showing date of birth may be requested to allow free admittance.

There is a new reception area for senior group bus and van parking, thus a special parking permit for this location will be required. Please contact the Art & Home Center office at (315) 487-7711 ext. 1265 to pre-register for this permit.

Fairgoers are able to make use of the Fair’s free internal tram network with the service running 9:00 am-8:00 pm. These trams travel around the perimeter road, stopping at 11 scheduled stops.  Free trams are made possible by Chevrolet.


  • Wade Shows Midway Monday

Ride 10 rides for just $10 through this special promotion. Wristbands can be purchased at any Wade Shows ticket booth on the midway. Wristbands are not shareable. Please see Midway page for height restrictions on all rides.

We honor the brave men and women of fire and emergency services agencies with free admission to any active or retired member of a fire department or emergency services organization who has a picture ID from that department or organization. Make sure to attend the Fire & Rescue Day ceremonies at 11:00 am in front of the Horticulture Building and make sure to see all the fire & rescue participants in our Special Day Parade at 6:00 pm.

Beef Day celebrates the vibrant beef industry in New York State and pays tribute to the hardworking beef producers who work diligently to provide high quality and nutritious protein to the millions of beef-loving New Yorkers.

Admission is just $1 for all women ages 13-59… children 12 and under are always free, and those 60+ are free as this is the new third Senior Day (see details below).

Plan on attending the annual Women’s Day Luncheon plus many other special events throughout the day. Highlights include the Fine Arts and Photo Exhibition in the Art & Home Center as well as judging in the Culinary Arts area. St. Joseph’s Health sponsors Women’s Day.

  • The 2019 Women’s Day Luncheon will take place in the Art and Home Center’s Empire Room at 12:00 noon. Click here to purchase your ticket, which includes parking, Fair admission and entry to the luncheon itself. Cost is $25 per ticket plus convenience & handling fees. Seating is limited – available online only through August 16.
  • The Art & Home Center will open at 10:00am with various activities for Women’s Day. In addition, a mini-fair will be held from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Chevy Court and will feature many advocacy groups for women, feel free to stop by to get information and ask any questions.

We celebrate the men and women of the military with free admission to any active duty or veteran with military identification (Military ID Card, form DD-214 or NYS Driver License, Learner Permit or non-driver ID card with a veteran designation). Make sure to attend the Armed Forces Day ceremonies at 11:00 am at the Veterans Memorial. Join the State Fair community as we honor and give tribute to all members of our Armed Forces. Make sure to see all the Armed Forces participants in our Special Day Parade at 6:00 pm.

We honor all members of Native American tribes with free admission on this day. ID is not required, but it is asked that attendees enter through Gate 4 only. Make sure to visit the Indian Village throughout the day for cultural performances and crafts.


  • Stomp Out Stigma Day

Help in the fight against addiction takes center stage at the new Stomp Out Stigma Day. The event coincides with International Overdose Awareness Day. The day will feature inspirational talks, an information fair with support services, and free training sessions in the use of NARCAN.

People 18 years old and younger admitted free on this day. ID showing date of birth may be requested.

Labor Day • Summer Send Off “Dollar Day”

On Labor Day, we honor the working women and men who make America strong. Supporters of labor can meet at 10:00 a.m. near Gate 4 and then at 10:30 a.m. they will march to Chevy Court for a Labor Day rally.


  • Summer Send Off “Dollar Day”

– Adult admission to the Fair will be $1 per person all day.

– All of the rides in the Wade Shows Midway will be $1 per ride (excludes Broadway Skyliner).

     – Fair Parking will still cost $5.
