A true story of one man’s cancer diagnosis and his time journey through treatment and recovery is the the latest film project made in Central New York.
“12 Days With God” is a faith based drama about the life of Devin Sherman whose faith was tested when he underwent two surgeries to remove a large cancerous growth behind his eye. The story and the film is based on his own experiences as he wrote about them during his 12-day hospital stay and seeing his experiences come to life on screen is hard to believe at times, he said.
“…It’s actually a surreal moment you know, to see someone portraying you’re story. The emotion that goes along with it is hard to explain because it’s pinpointing exact days and times when you see it on film or when you actually experience what you see,” he said.
Producer and Director John Ginty is the man behind bringing the story to life on screen. With a budget of $100,000, Ginty produced the film in and around Syracuse using all local talent.
“That’s one of the things that we’re really advocates for,” he said of hiring and working in the area. “I’m on the board for the CNY Film Professionals and something we really are pushing is trying to build a film community in Syracuse.”
“12 Days With God” will premiere on Thursday August 30 at Abundant Life Christian Center Church on Nations Blvd, in East Syracuse. Doors open at 6:30pm and the film starts at 7pm. Tickets are available for $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information and to see the trailer visit 12DaysWithGod.com
