The Syracuse Area Music Awards show season is underway with the Hall of Fame Ceremony just hours away at the Dinosaur. The SAMMY Awards takes place on Friday, Marchh 8 at the Palace Theater.
To usher in the award show weekend, “Bad Mama’s Blues Band” took to the Bridge Street studio stage. The blues band is comprised of Emily Pastuf, Jeff Swidowski, Zak Masoud, Will Fuegel and Rob Zaccaria. The band took home a SAMMY last year and said that the award really helped them to get noticed within the community.
“It really helps to establish you in the local music scene …” Zak Masoud said.
The big band sound of the group is attributed to their love of older blues music. They enjoy playing music that many people haven’t heard of, bandmember Will Fuegal said.
