Kicking off the new season of Broadway in Syracuse is the national tour of “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” starring James Taylor Odom.

The musical features Odom playing not one, not two, but eight different characters of the D’Ysquith family in the show. James Odom said he uses physicality, gestures, and voice inflection to give each character specific attributes for the audience to recognize.

Odom earned his BA from the Gainesville Theater Alliance and his MFA from the University of Arkansas.  James did several shows in recent years at the Cortland Repertory Theater.

“A Gentleman’s Guide” tells the story of Monty Navarro, an heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump the line of succession by eliminating his pesky relatives who stand in his way. Navarro also must balance his mistress, his fiance, and the threat of being caught.

The show has earned unanimous raves and also won four Tony Awards in 2013-2014 including one for best musical. The show is two-and-a-half hours long and will be at the Oncenter tonight and tomorrow, Oct.11-12. The show is not recommended for audiences younger than 10.

Tickets are available through the Oncenter Box Office at (315) 435-2121. Or online at Ticketmaster and BroadwayinSyracuse.com.
